My aim screen name is sbc13ball but i'm never on there cause i hate talking to 10 people at once.
A cam is extremely labor intensive, costs the most and generates the most driveability problems. I installed my cam in june i think and i'm still trying to get it to run 100%.
But let me just say, if your patient, have a lot of time, extra cash, and friends at shops, It'* the best way to go.

A cam is great for increasing the most power over the entire rpm range.
The GT1 cam is great for increasing the powerband in the higher RPM range but not too high so you won't need a high stall converter. With a high stall converter, Intense'* n/a cams as well as the GT2 cam would probably work great.
I probably spent like 1500+ on all the crap i did over the summer to my engine.
What are you trying to spend? That would make it easier to try and suggest which route to go.
If you want good advice, e-mail scott at intense or zoomer at zzp asking them -- what it'* gonna take to probably get your car to 15 flat. Tell them what you've got and all and they would be able to really help you out alot.

If your trying to spend that much and can get someone to either help you do the work or do the work for you then you shoudl get a cam.
I'd say
ZZP GT1 cam, install kit with timing chain and tensioner(install parts do add up), LS6 valve springs, OR pushrods, Ported exhuast manifolds, 2.5" mandrel bend down pipe, ZZP High velocity intake insert(maybe, theres some contraversy about wether it'* really that beneficial), L67 TB, CAI, Dyno work to determine correct a/f max timing etc. and a custom chip with raised shift points, advanced timing correct a/f ratio.
You could probably do all that and be somewhere in the 14s no problem.
OR
You could wait untill ZZP puts out the M90 conversion kit for under 1000. They put the protype on a grand prix L36 and it ran 14s with high mileage and no other mods.
There'* alot of options for 1500
