Default 180 Thermostat: A or B?

A: ZZP'* modified (what looks like stock) thermostat with 2 drilled holes. $11.00

B: INTENSE'* thermostat which looks slightly different than stock, but no holes. $9.99

It gets cold here during the winters in IL and I'm not hard on my car during everything driving. So is there a difference in quality and performance here?

jr, how much was the Autozone thermostat that you bought? Do they have the gasket and seal at AZ too?

I would also like to know what the answer is to that question (A or B)! I am looking for a 180 stat but am confused on what to get for this crazy IL weather! PM me and let me know what ya end up with, or what one I should get...if ya find anything out!
Thanks!

extreme, i think i am gonna run a 180 in the summer and a 195 in the winter. They are easy to switch out.

Unless you are drag racing and want a longer warm up cycle, go with the undrilled unit.
Ultimately the temp will settle out at the rating of the thermostat. 180 F in this case.
In the colder winter months, you may set a code of "engine failing to reach operating temperature" due to longer than normal warm up time.
It also hurts mileage in the winter.

Is there a stat between 180 and 195? Maybe i'll just have to save some $$ and get a cooler! But $10 is allot cheaper!

I'm gonna do with the INTENSE T-stat after some thinking and reading here. Also almost everything I do to my car will be made by INTENSE.

MotoRad makes a 192 F degree stat (part number 203-192) for many Bonneville'* as well as a lot of other GM model cars - but it really doesn't operate at a noticeable temp difference than any 195 F stat during warmer months.

the 180 wont always have you at 180*, but it will be all the way open sooner, so your temp spikes wont be as noticable, correct? I plan on picking up one of these bad boys soon.
