Are you asking for a diagnosis? Prediction? Or what a Performance Build would entail?

i would like to add some hp to the motor, however, i believe i need to build the tranny a little or possibally replace it with something stronger. but i cant find any parts for the 4t60e. does anybody have any suggestions? i would like to ee it run mid upper 8'* in the 1/8th. i know what the motor needs it'* just the tranny that sucks. it lets go at the top of 1st and thetorque converter shudders bad when engaging, espesially when in OD, i wish i would've got a '97 :( HELP!!!

I'll move this to Performance and Brainstorming for better exposure.

and drive it daily (well, at least every OTHER day).

Do a search of my topics. You'll be able to follow along with my trans build day by day. The 4T60 in some respects is actually a more reliable trans to start with. Failure rates with the 4T65 (in stock for stock comparisons) are 3 times the rate of the 4T60.

The most common failures in the 60 are the diff pinion shaft or it'* retaining pin, and the 2nd gear clutches, however, this is with the lower (rpm) torque curve of the Series 1 L67, and without the 96'* PCM torque managment. So it'* a game of guessing to see what your long-term failures would be.

Beef it all up. HD TC, custom Diff (beefed up) and a full-blown shift kit, with any and all options. You'll do fine with that setup.

My 93 is putting down more torque now (probably) than your 96, and it'* doing it at a lower (more dangerous) rpm, with much less torque management in the PCM. The trans is handling it (at least for the last 5 months) with flying colors. I'm very impressed with the build.
