headers and converter
Have been researching the post concerning headers. Are some better than others? Do they all basically hook up the same? Who makes the best? There seems to be quite a price diffrence, I'm sure its based on materials. Rather than replace the converter with a high flow model, can the car be ran without the converter? Thanks

Difficult to answer without knowing what type of car you drive.
You can tune and run without the convertor. Only problem will be your car won't past E-testing if it is required in your area. It will also throw a CEL, which you would have to tolerate, remove with a custom tune, or install SIM'* in the O2 sensor wires to fool the car into thinking a cat is installed,

A O2 sensor sim is something that plugs into the harness and it simulates an O2 sensor without actually having one installed.
I believe its against EPA(and who knows what other 3 letter governement agencies) law for a dealer to reprogram PCM'* to defeat smog/emissions required equipment.
If your vehicle requires an annual safety/emissions inspection, not having a cat or even a O2 sim installed could fail it. Even worse, you could be fined if the station reports you.

"I love Windsor" tells me you are 19 or 20 years old. Drinking age in Ontario is 19 and downtown Windsor fills up with 19 and 20 year olds every weekend. We refer to our downtown area as the kiddy bar district.
Where do you live? If you live where emissions testing is required you cannot eliminate the cat.
By the way, having a cat does not equate to low performance. I am working on a 99 Trans Am with my son and we installed cats with headers and a dual exhaust system. We are still working on the tune and we have to install a second fuel pump, but when it is done we expect it to run between 600 and 650 RWHP.

i love ceasar'*!!!
I'm only 52! don't drink, but love the casino and canadien'* are very freindly!!! lived in MI all my life, never had a vehicle tested for emissions. if I install headers and leave the cat on will that detract from the gains in performance. where can i get a sim to plug into the harness? thiis car is a daily driver. my goal is a little added performance and fuel economy.

dealership'* do not do tunes period! they take away warranty for putting on aftermarket product'*, and what all have you done to the trans am 2k4u. i have a 04 gto that been cammed, tuned, longtube headers, and custom 3 !/2" mandrel bent exhaust. stock heads, intake, and internal'.* The car sit'* right now with 400rwhp and 389rwtq. i am going to forge the bottom end and then yank out the 600 lift cam and put in a blower cam. and blow the **** out of it.
My shop is wanting me to do a single 85mm custom built turbo settup. if i go that way i will have up towards 750 to 850 rwhp. mine is a 6 sp so the driveability will suffer a bit. but man it will be some kind of fun.
