Default 02 Aurora AC comp clutch

Does anyone have a service manual for an 02 aurora? My clutch is grinding and I want to adjust it out. I need to buy the correct adjuster. Can anyone help me? I have no idea what the clutch type is.

If you adjust the clutch 'out', the clutch will be grinding and slipping more. The clutch type is electro/magnetic type. When doing a/c work, I usually set the clutch gap at .35 mm.

First measure the clutch space gap. And see what you have.

You can remove the center bolt (I think the bolt size is 13mm).

With that bolt removed, you can carefully pry the face off the clutch. This part is called the 'clutch plate'. With this plate removed, you can look at the plate surface as well as the friction surface of the clutch pulley.

If they are still in good condition, you may try to adjust the gap. There will be shims on the backside of the a/c plate where you have just removed the center bolt. Add shims to increase gap, remove shims to lessen the gap.

It could be possible that the electro magnetic coil is weak and or internally shorted allowing the electricity to pass prematurely out of the coil, lessening the magnetic strength.

The electro magnetic ring can be replaced without having to 'open up' the a/c system.

You can remove the a/c pulley after you remove it'* retaining snap ring. This snap ring is visible once the clutch plate has been removed.

In the following picture:
#2 is the center bolt
#3 is the clutch plate
#5 are the spacer shims
#6 is the snap ring
#7 is the pulley
#8 is the bearing
#10 is the electro magnetic coil ring

I don't know what exact a/c system this picture is related to, but they are all the same basic design. The parts I've listed/numbered are the parts that relate to the GM a/c system.
Good luck.

This is the proper a/c clutch holding tool used to secure the clutch plate while you remove the center bolt. Auto parts stores will loan them to you.

Here is an a/c clutch plate removed....you can see the shims.

If it'* grinding while the compressor is not engaged, you can try adjusting it out. If it'* grinding when the compressor is engaged, then adjust it in and hope like crazy the compressor is not seized up.

Found it: https://www.gmforum.com/mechanical-1...-plate-278951/

If the compressor is the same as the PA, the clutch plate is going to be a press on type.
