Depending on the vehicle, it could have a TCC release switch in the pressure switch manifold that COULD cause this problem.

If the TCC solenoid was actually stuck on, the TCC would apply right on top of the 1-2 shift.

I do not think that I have ever seen a TCC solenoid fail mechanically on a 4T60-E.

Either way, the side cover is still coming off.

Right, but the manifold gets tested and is probably the issue, not the soleniod.

Can you write up the procedure? I'm going to start diagnosing tomorrow, but if all else fails, it'd be nice to be able to know how to take the side panel off.

Wow, you made me dig for this. https://www.gmforum.com/showthread.p...+early&page=27 The trans drop is on page 27. I made a few booboos. But everything is covered in this. Right down to ripping the trans apart.

A quick question.

Do I have a 4t65E or a 4t60E?

People have mentioned both/Parts stores have mentioned both. I have a 2001 3.5 Intrigue..I thought it was a 4t65E. : /

I plan to start tearing it apart in the next few days, but before I do so, I just thought of something...

A few weeks before all of this started happening, my friend "topped off all my fluids", and I didn't think anything of it. Could overfilling the tranny fluid cause this? I just checked the level, and it'* over the "max" line. It'* doubtful, but I'm just wondering..if it'* this simple, I'm going to scream.
