My Rear Struts are factory only?
Hi Everyone,
I went to 2 different shops, one being Monroe, to see about getting my rear struts replaced. Both shops said that they were factory only.
What the heck do I have on my car? 96 Olds 98 Regency Elite. L36
As far as I know its just 2 air struts with ELC. I don't have any ride control buttons to indicate CCR, but I don't have the aux pump outlet in the trunk either, but I do have an airpump under the right rear of the car (condition unknown) and an ELC relay under the hood.
Any help is appreciated.
Anyone know the part# for a new or rebuilt airpump?
Thanks,
Popa Tim

I did a quick lookup on partsamerica.com and came up with tons of stuff.
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...+Strut%2c+Rear
The compressor is probably best found at a junkyard, dealer or gmpartsdirect.com

To buy parts, I need to know what I actually have under there. If its just air struts why would Monro tell me its factory only? Is there an uncommon suspension that I might have?

Monroe still sells struts for your car. Go to their website.
Keep in mind the rear are NOT air. They are gas with air assist.

a 96 98 should have Load Level... The rear stuts should be the Gas charged with Air assist... They are a very common strut...
I do highly reccomend Monroe like Bill stated
