'93 Olds Eighty-Eight 4T60E Issues
Hi forum,
I've got a rather pressing issue with my Eighty-Eight again; this time it'* the transmission. About a few days ago when I started up Ol'Roy I heard a clattering noise coming from the engine. I immediately thought that I had busted something with the internals of the engine, but as I inspected and searched for the source of the noise (did the stethoscope trick), I happened to locate it on the bell-housing of the transaxle where the torque converter is located. I checked the fluid and it seemed fine, in fact the fluid was still red, and I also lost my reverse gear. I can still use the forward ones, but it felt sluggish when I tested it out by rolling it back in neutral and going into drive while still on the driveway. Also, the clattering noise goes away when in non-stationary gears. I'm most certain that I need to drop the transaxle, tear it apart, and put new parts in it. I've scoured other forums for answers, but alas I couldn't find a solution, so I'm in need of some help to somewhat figure out what'* wrong with my Oldsmobile'* transmission.
Parts suggestions are also helpful as always.
Stay awesome guys,
-Martin

Master overhaul kit is the only thing I can think of. Of course, as with all trans issues, it can be difficult to speculate what'* broken until you get it all apart.

That'* exactly what my hunch and my shop buddy say, Mike. I also read up on that TSB, Tech II. Either way, my Olds isn't gonna be up and running anytime soon. Looks like I've got some things to do; thanks guys!

**Update**
I checked the dip for the transmission today and it looks like it needs a fluid and filter change. The color of the fluid is kind of orange, but when I wiped the dip on a white napkin, it was light brown. I'm still going to take the transmission apart and give it some TLC since it'* internals have racked up 100,000+ miles between fluid and filter changes.

**UPDATE**
I dropped the pan and I noticed some pieces of metal and a plastic piece. I guess something inside the transaxle is broken and causing it to make noise and not go into reverse. Attached is a pic of the pieces that came out of the sump.

I know Tech II. I'm dropping the whole transaxle today with a buddy to tear it apart. I'm hoping that these pieces came from the reverse reaction drum and not from the clutches. The pan is still dry if you're wondering.
