Default Programming 88 FOB Remote?

So I used a jumper wire on pins 4 and 8 as instructed but the doors do not lock or unlock. Also the lock buttons on both front doors dont do anything, while the unlock does work. I'm thinking I need to replace a relay behind glove box or something. I don't know which one to pull. Any help would be appreciated.

Wes

Are you sure it came from the factory with remotes?

Go to www.compnine.com, enter your car'* VIN, and get a listing of all the RPO codes for your car. See if it has power door locks.

Thanks for the link man. Very useful tool. I checked it out and my car does have keyless entry. Now, I need to figure out why it won't go into programming mode. The doors should lock when the jumper is inserted but no luck.

On another note. I fixed the door lock button issue, auto lock/unlock, trunk release, etc by replacing a single fuse behind glove box. Very happy with that. Love the added luxury having those features allow.

Nevermind. I just went out and tried again and I got it to program. It must have been replacing that fuse that did it.

I'm so happy I have keyless entry now as it'* my first car with this feature. Really sucks trying to find the keyhole at night and risking scraping up paint. Now I just push a button and I'm good to go. Thanks for the help!

There are a lot of conveniences we take for granted ... until we don't have them. I'm glad you sorted it out.
