Default Oldsmobile Alero C1225 and C1233

Please help,

I am not sure if i am posting this in the right section of this forum as i am pretty new to this but i am learning.

My car has the service engine light on and has the error codes C1233 and C1225. When i clear the codes, C1233 doesnt go away and stays on but C1225 does evantually come back.

What could be causing this, i have heard the LF Wheel Sensor? But what exactly is that ? the rotor ?

Welcome to the forum John.
When I looked up C1223 (chassis code) I get L Rear wheel speed sensor, input signal zero.
Could be a harness connection problem from the wheel speed sensor (back of the hub/bearing unit)or broken cut wire? Or time for a new hub?

On C1225 I get Left Front Excessive Wheel Speed Variation.
Do you have noisy bearing/hub there?

It'* LF excessive wheel variation, and RF open/shorted.....thus you have two separate problems......

If the RF is open/shorted, that will come on right away....i.e., if open, as soon as you move you will get a zero reading while the others 3 sensors will be giving a reading....this will cause an immediate code....

The other code will only trigger, if the signal varies enough to be out of range....

As a GM tech, the only way I could diagnose these problems, especially C1233, was a snapshot with Tech II scanner......taking a test drive, doing ABS stops, observing data especially on turns......also having an old spare hub, can quickly diagnose a bad one, when connected to the harness while reading data and spinning it...

Excessive variation is usually the hub/sensor.......open/shorted could be the hub/sensor or harness, or in the case of water intrusion, BOTH......you can guess and change parts, which can be costly, or you go to someone who can do proper diagnosis.....
