Default Starter Replacement on a Settled Motor...

In trying to remove the starter on my Olds Cutlass Ciera I discovered that a motor mount had broken and the starter'* long bolt is sitting on top of the undercarriage of the car.

I hear I can jack the underside of the motor to get to the bolt. Can someone advise me as to where I can safely place the jack?

I have the car up on jackstands already and everything out but that one dang bolt....

Well, you have two options....jack the engine up, or lower the cradle......

Easier to jack the engine.....put something like a 2X6 piece of board under the tranny pan, towards the engine/tranny junction....then jack up the board.....

Remember though, a jack can come down, especially if there is a leak, so be careful....shouldn't have to jack it up too much anyway....and get that mount fixed too....
