1997 Olds LSS - N/A - according to the dealership;

F41 suspension package, mine should contain a 32mm front anti-swaybar

According to my car, however, the proper part (cross-referencing the dealership'* GM part # at napa, carquest, and brake warehouse) is pathetically small for the center bore, and will not fit the round mounting bracket.

wtf

(part I purchased - based on part numbers/vin - the one everyone agrees should fit..)




my front sway-bar'* about double the thickness of what that hole would allow for, and again - it will not fit the shape of the mount.

am i looking in the wrong place, i'm looking - into the wheel well - and it attaches at the end links (both new.) and heads back along the control arm; it'* mounted to the frame where it bends inward to cross over to the other side... and these bushings will never fit that spot

... the ONLY possible thing I can imagine; (i've never changed out these bushings on an LSS before, although i've had several of these cars) is that it fits in there with such tight tolerance that i'd have to squish it into shape inside the mount, using the force from an air ratchet to ... squish the rubber until it fits?

the energy bushing are the way to go to stiffen them up. I would go under with a veiner to check to see if you have the right sway bar.

I ordered Energy Greasable 32mm swaybar bushings today;

they come with new bolts,new bushings, and new mounting brackets -

the guy who had the car before me had a really good mechanic; what we think he did - was exactly what i just did... the guy probably replaced the bushings once, and just bought a universal mount/bushing kit as a quick/easy/good replacement, and they've long since worn out. (now 214k on the clock)


i've got an 11mm rear swaybar, next time it'* on the lift (when my fronts arrive next week) i'm going to take pics of the rear bar, and order up the appropriate bushing kit from energy for that one as well.

Can't wait to get my summer (wide+sticky) tires back on there this spring; my blizzak'* are a little ... mooshy - but worth it.




main reason for replacement is because they look very beat up, and after replacing the Entire Front End (monro quick struts, ball joints, tie rods, swaybar end links, brakes, and a few other things i can't remember) it developed a very annoying rattle over big bumps _ mechanic says it'* the swaybar, the only 2 parts we haven't changed out.

I replaced my bushings as well. The counter guy laughed when he found the diameter.....a litle on the big side, for an olds....the sway bar diameter.

The stock mounts are goofy, and the stock bushings are like a big puddles of goo. they mold themselves to the bracket and the bar.

I used the brackets from energy suspension. I had to use a large washer (probably 2") underneath the bracket to level and raise it, so the urethane bushing would fit.

I would be prepared to do some modifying which ever way you go. The urethane bushings will not work with the stock brackets......you'll see whenyou pull it.

You may need the SSEi size bushing. FWIW you should have the bushing look of what is pictured with that oddball shape. There is a dimple in the H body subframe for that dimple to fit into. Really tight space and a pain to do them w/o a lift.
