Default K&N air filter for a '94 3800 NA?

Every now and then I like to tinker with things, more or less because I get bored. Sometimes this is a bad thing...

Anyway, I have an '94 Olds 88 and it appears K&N doesn't make a direct replacement for the air filter on this car. However, I've seen several of thier offerings which might hook up to the TB intake.

My questions are these: Has anybody out there replaced their air filter with one of these (on the series I engine), did it improve anything, and if so, which setup did you use?

Or is this just one of those bone-headed ideas?

I have a K&N air filter that fits inside my air box for my 96 Olds Achieva and wow let me tell you it increased my fuel millage by 2 mile per gallon and it added a little more power to my front wheels. I can spin my tires at a dead stop now and it also has helped out my throttle response to.

Also I did some looking around and couldn't find any aftermarket air filters, the only thing I found threw K&N was the old filters.

i dont know what the series one really looks like but what about grabbing the boot and box off a 96+ h body and then you can use a drop in for that.

ive put them in every thing and it seems the bigger the engine the less the benefit. ive got one in my 98 bonnie and it got under 2mpg and you cant feel or hear it. the 07 monte and 03 i had got a little more. i used to have a neon before that and it got over 3 and you could actually feel the difference.
