In 2012 I replaced both of the control arm/ ball joint assemblies due to both had bad vertical bushings along with play in the ball joint on both sides. So after a little over two years I need to know it I'm need to replace the ball joints or not. Over the weekend I finally got around to replacing both of the CV Axle seals on the transmission, so after I got them replace and started to put it all back together I noticed the ball joints has a lot of circular play with some grinding to them but no up and down movement in the ball joints on both sides. So my main question is a lot of circular play all right or due they need to be replaced ASAP. The control arm/ ball joint assemblies have right around twenty to twenty two thousand miles on them. If any more info is needed just ask.

hard to believe they would go bad that quick. if you have the spindle on and try to wiggle it front to back or in and out it should be still, should only move when you tilt the spindle like you are turning the wheel

Sounds like something made in China.....where did you buy this?

I bought them threw Rock Auto due to they were a lot cheaper then a local auto parts store. They are the Dorman brand. I was able to buy both sides for right around 100 dollars with shipping. Here are the links to both of them threw Dorman'* site Dorman Products - 520-131. Dorman Products - 520-132. Also with the spindle attached to the ball joint it don't stay still. It just flops around.

So should I replace them or should I hold off because starting next month I will be making a trip to southern Kansas 1 time out of the month for awhile due to family reasons. It is about a 5 hour round trip.

if you can move them by hand its real bad, not something i would put off especially if you are going to be going far from home. i would see if they make moog ones for it

rockauto has them for 22, i never heard of anyone complain about the moog problem solver stuff

One thing I dont want to cheap out on is ball joints. I agree Moog is the best way to go.
They may cost more but wont wear out like el-cheapos !

Generally when I need one quick I pay 3 x that locally.

I was planning on buying them from Rock Auto. After I get this issue dealt with I am needing to work on the other issue I'm having and that is I keep going threw hub assemblies every 4 months on one side. I have had it to 4 shops and no one can figure it out, so it will be left up to me to figure it out also I my be asking everyone here about this problem later on after I deal with the ball joint issue.
