Default Water on the floorboards...Delta 88

I did a quick search on this common problem for mid-90s Deltas (maybe 98s too), but only brought up an old Bonnie thread.

Here'* what happened with mine, and where I found the leak: I bought a '95 Delta LSS two years ago. When it would rain, a pool of water would gather in the right rear floorboard, and depending on the amount, would trickle into the passenger front floorboard also. Did a lot of searching with negative results. The humidity really screwed with the dash electrics.

Then one day while driving, a friend was sitting on the right rear seat and said he felt water spraying on his arm. WTH? Later I popped the trunk, lifted the cardboard from over the right rear wheel well and voila, the leak was revealed. Rusted hole at the top of the wheel well.

The tire would direct the rain water upwards, through the hole(*) at high speed, and then the water would travel beside the rear seat and in to the interior of the car, pooling at will.

Had a friend patch the wheel well and the water in the interior problem disappeared.

I post this just in case you find yourself replacing door seals, etc, and scratching your head that the water is still finding its way into the car. Since all this happened, I've noticed a chunk of salvaged Deltas with rusted out right rear wheel wells (but not on the left). Strange, but true.

Maybe this can help somebody else who encounters this problem.

I'm sure somebody will find that helpful, good post!

I had a very similar issue with my 96' Buick Park Ave / C Body, turned out to be my brake light seals had gone bad/dry-rotted, so water was leaking in via my tail light assembly, it would first pool up where the brake lights are, right below them..
The water rusted a spot in my trunk and let the water get through to my floorboards.

Around 125.00 from the dealer fixes that problem, or one could use some silicone as a temp fix for a lot less...

On our Bonnevilles, the door seals would pull from the corner of the door jam. Creating an opening allowing water to come in also.

Will, my 95 tail lights leaked too. Silicone to the rescue!
