Smile Power Window Issue (Window Buttons)

Hi everyone,

I have a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. Its a 4-door with a 2.2 Eco Tech Engine.

Out of the blue the other day all of my power window buttons stopped working. I had just rolled down the passenger side window when leaving a friends house and not more than five minutes later, when I got home, I tried to roll the window up and the button on the driver side door didn't work.

So I tried the button on the passenger door and that didn't work. After this I tried all the buttons for all of the windows and found that none of them worked.

Prior to this, my track on the driver side window was broken and the window slid down into the door. So my friend and I took off the door panel so that we could slide the window back up into place and tape it so it stayed. Afterwards is when I drove home and put the passenger side window down and got home and tried to put it up and realized none of the power window buttons worked.

Don't know if what my friend and I did caused the issue with the power window buttons or if its something else.

Additionally I checked the fuse box on the driver side by the door and did not see any blown out fuses.

Any ideas, on what could be wrong or any advice about where I should proceed from here with troubleshooting, would be greatly appreciated.

Also, this is my first post, so if there is any information I am leaving out or something I did wrong, some constructive criticism is appreciated.
Thanks, Anthony

manual says power is from circuit breaker "pwr window" these are different looking than fuses, try changing it with a different one. still should be in that panel though

Ok I'll give that a try and see if it works.

Thanks, Justin!

Since no windows work, it has to be something common to all.....

First, does your master panel switch on the driver'* door have a kill switch for the other three windows? Accidentally pushed?

Otherwise, you pull the switch from the door, disconnect the harness(es) and check for power AND gound...if you have power and ground, then chances are you need a new master switch,,,you can verify with a couple jumper wires by finding the two wire circuits to each window, and jumpering power and ground to each circuit, then reverse them ....will need a schematic to do this....

If you don't have power or ground, and the circuit breaker is ok, chances are you have broken a wire(*) where the harness passes through the "A" pillar to the driver'* door...
