Default Stalling on left turns???

I'm having a slight problem with the olds....well first off when i used to start my car it had this instant catch to it and an aggrisive sound to it. now when i start it, it sounds real soft. and my two biggest problems are sometimes when i'm at a red light and i try to pull off my car jumps about 3 times and then drives fine at higher speeds. and on left turns my car shuts off. but the funny thing about that is my radio and everything still works, but the power steering goes and the brake pedel gets very stiff and i lose all power to the gas. i think it may be my distributor because i know i was getting a miss fire due to a bad spark plug a little after i brought the olds. but now i think the whole cylinder mite be gone. is this sounding right to anyone? or am i completly off from what the problem is? help!

Honestly..you are a little ways off.

You don't have a distributor to fail. To start there, I'd suggest a tune up that includes plugs and wires at the least.

As for the stalling. do you have a low amount of fuel in the tank when you are taking your speed turns and the car stalls? (All electrical will still work because of the battery.)

This section is for posting about track stories and road trips. I'll move your topic to the proper mechanical section for you.

well when this first happend it was two nights ago, and i had 95% of my tank. as for the wires and plugs that was my first guess. i have brand new plugs but need wires. but that still wouldn't explain the hesitation from a stop light or would it? but as far as tune up'* go, all i have really done was change the oil and put a new air filter in. i know it'* not much but i'm not the best under the hood. i'm JUST starting out, and this is my first car that i actually have to put work and money into. so if my questions sound a bit dumb please forgive me.

First off.. you don't sound dumb.

You are coming here looking for help and we are here to help. Many people that never touched a car before have learned tons here and now are confident working on their cars.

The wires are as important as the plugs. Think of the plug as a light bulb and the cord to the light is the plug wire. If the wire is broken and hardly working..what happens to the light bulb.. it'* going to flicker and not work right.

Do you remember what brand of plugs you put in? We've found and then found research that states Bosch break down quickly in a waste spark system. Our cars have a waste spark system.

It probably will. If the plugs and wires are bad..most notice a good improvement.

When you get wires. I'd suggest Autolite Professional, AC Delco and Belden. IIRC when you buy any from your local parts places, they have a lifetime warranty on them.
