Slight Miss at Idle w/ Full Shuddder at 70MPH
HEy Ya'll !! I've a real quick question or two for the Forum. I'm reading the "How to" section that "Danthers" has so kindly posted, along with others. I've checked my coil packs and they are with in the recommended range on the Primary and Secondary sides, I just installed new AC Spark plugs ( same as what was there ) and new plug wires. and it runs a little better the it did b-4.but still misses. Just for my own curiosity
I "Ohmed" out the Old Plug wires and got the following results: #1-1.65,
#2- 3.13, #3-3.52, #4 & #5 -2.88 #6-2.67 In trying to get the "miss" to go away I removed the NEW plug wires one at a time and re-installed the old wires, the NEW plug wires Ohmed out as: #1- 4.20, #2-6.76 #3-6.98 #4-9.78, #5 8.85 #6 10.08 IF these reading are correct It looks to me like the"NEW" plug wires have TWICE the resistance than the "old" plug wires? ??I left the old wired installed as it did not run any better with the new ones.( I'm gonna get my $29 back from AZ )
The CEL has not been set, it lights up upon starting and then goes out.ANyway it'* the OBD-1.5 that no one can scan. The engine has a slight miss at idle, hesitation at starting from a full stop, pulls strongly during acceleration and them starts to stutter at 70MPH cruising speed. The miss seems to go away during acceleration.
This is the same vehicle that i posted a while back that the the power steering went out on. SO, I'm building my upper body strength up steering the thing while trying to figure out why she'* not running smooth. and this is what I've done so far: Removed and cleaned the EGR, New plugs, Old wires, Double checked to make sure no plug wire contact near O2 sensor, Cleaned Coil PAKs and Wire connection to ECM. Let me know what you think about those plug wire ohm readings and point me in the correct direction to find and cure this miss. ThankS! !

az wires are not that good for one, so you cant rule out wires, also the rubber breaks down and allows arcing to what ever metal might be the easiest path to ground so internal resistance is not the only important check.

Update 5/10
I found that I can stop the "stuttering" while driving by slightly depressing the brake pedal. I thinks I'm disconnecting the Torque converter lock-up by doing this, So I'm assuming the problem is in the transmission. I replaced the Power steering pump and now have power steering again. SO I'll continue to search for the cure to the miss and find out how to fix the torque converter stuttering.

By pressing the brake your unlocking the torque converter. Have you checked your coils to see if you have a bad one. have you had the car scanned to see if any codes come up. Some trans codes don't trip a light.

I'll recommend changing the transmission fluid and filter. That'* all mine needed to start behaving again. If you haven't changed it in the last 30,000 miles, now'* the time.
With your other issues, it may not just be the tranny fluid, but if you're due for a change, drop the pan and change it and rule that out.
