My 89 olds Delta 88 has developed a starting problem after sitting shut off after 6 or 7 hours. The problem is that is takes it awhile to start but the Starter, Alternator and Battery has been replace or checked and they were all in good shape. The Alternator was replaced June of last year and the battery March of this year. The Starter was pulled off and double checked and it passed all test. But this is the kicker to this if my engine stays at operation temp it will start every time but if it sits longer the 6 hours it take awhile to start. I can't afford a shop price so I am hopping yall maybe can help me on this weird issue I am having. It started about a week ago and I was told it could be a handful of problems. Everything from the Ignition Switch to the Fuel Pump and even the Fuel Pressure Regulator on the Fuel Rail. So since I can't afford a shop right now I am turning to yall for maybe some help in this matter. Thanks.

Check your FPR first, that'* a very easy test. Simply pull off the vacuum line from the FPR and smell it. If you smell gas, the FPR is bad.

I forgot to add that the problem started a few days after I replaced all 6 injectors on my car but they told me that would have nothing to due with my problem. I will check it and see if I can smell gas.

Is it possible the new injectors have a different flow rate? If so, that will really mess up the fueling.

There was a small difference between them but before I bought them I did all my research on them and they were counted as OE replacements. The manufacture on the new Injectors is UltraPower. The only difference between the factory Injectors and the new Injectors was a little bit smaller. Maybe a centimeter if I had to guess. The Tip of the factory Injectors and the new ones were the same. Also I pulled the vacuum hose off the FPR and I smelt it and there was the aroma of Gas coming from it. I did some research on it and I noticed a few other problems I was having to. Those are poor fuel mileage and it will stall from time to time along with a few other things.

Also I noticed that I was getting a strong smell of gas from my exhaust and it is running kinda ruff to.

From what your saying, the FPR is bad. Gas is being sucked right in to the intake, so you are running rich. Replace the FPR. here'* a write up on how to do it. May not be exact, but close enough. https://www.gmforum.com/mechanical-134/fuel-pressure-regulator-fpr-replacement-284772/

I am hoping after I replace this my Fuel Mileage will go up and stop making my car run so rich. Thanks for the info.

Well, considering your sucking raw gas right in to your intake, ya, the mileage will get better and you wont be running rich.
