not sure about Canadian regulations. I got into by responding to a "help wanted" listing for a broker looking to take on a few extra independant contractors for a big project that was going on in the New England area. Here in the States, New York certification pretty much opens up being able to run across the whole country, just take the 26 question multiple choice written test at the NY DMV.

Most T/A truck stops have Oversized Load (Canada might call it "Overdimension") Truckers & Pilot Car Directory, I'm sure there must be a Canadian version, there's plenty of info in there for different regions equipment & certification requirements.

Nice rigs man. I hear you on the whole being home thing. Myself, I do Pilot Car work and while I take on the ocasional overnighter I like keeping it close to home.
Keep the shiny side up, may you brakes stay cool and your coffe hot.
