Cold Heat
I just got one of them "Cold Heat" soldering irons. You know, the one you see on TV and say "yeah, right. Whatever"..
The freakin' thing actually works!!
Just 4 AA batteries, and it gets hot as heck in just a couple of seconds, but only when you touch it to metal. Doesn't cool off as fast as the make it sound like on TV, but in well under a minute, it'* safe to touch. A lot quicker than the screwdriver I was testing it on!!
I am impressed! Cost me less than 20 bucks at the "As seen on TV" store in the mall.
Now I gotta go find a brken wire somewhere.....

Yeah I think I read a review about it in my Popular Mechanics mag which was positive for the most part. & I remembered them saying it worked pretty good just for small gauge wire. I've been in need a of new iron myself maybe I should go pick one up soon.

Trust me 3 guys in the shop I used to work for all got them for Christmas last year and they all have them sitting in theyre tool box NOT using them. We solder some pretty heavy gauge ignition wires in most cars and it just doesnt do the job well.
