The front-end of that thing looks like it was designed by Disney'* Pixar studios for the purposes of the Cars film. Really a sad attempt at trying to revitalize a classic.
I dunno I kinda like it. You have to NOT look at it as a reproduction of the past but a new design with cues (grille and lines of the side) from the original.
And it is already in production (or will be real soon) as it is slated as a 2009 car (to be released next year)
And yes forgot to annotate teh Chevy Volt, thanks for catching up on that!
lt is looking towards 2015+ on the release. It is electric car with an onboard gasoline/ethanol/biodiesel multi-fuel generator (go figure that one out, i couldn't). Meaning it will run on NO GAS for the first 40-100 miles then the generator will kick on to charge the batteries (NOT drive the car) giving it a range of 640+ miles on one tank while getting 50+mpg in the process. Then engine will maintain a constant RPM as a generator making it last longer and consume less gas. It is planned to use a 1.0L ecotec with a turbocharger.
