Eat eat eat fellas. The most important thing to do is eat breakfast, even if its an egg beater on a single slice of toast, or some oatmeal. Then eat a balanced lunch.
I buy those Healthy choice meals because you simply cant overeat when everything is portioned out for you. I also snack on lots of fruit, and drink plenty of juice and water.
I was 285 and now I weigh 260 and still dropping. As far as soda/pop? Drink the diet stuff. At first it will taste like diet, but after your taste buds adjust, its like reg soda. Trust me. I stopped adding sugar in my coffee, I stopped drinking reg soda/pop I cut my food intake in half and I try and excercise 3 times a week (Havent been lately ) but its basically a lifestyle change. You have to make changes on what/how you eat.
Before all of this? I would skip breakfast, have a late lunch (3pm) then when I got home from work, I wouldnt be hungry right away, but then get hungry at like 10pm and eat. NOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!
Keep up the good work!! You'll be buying a new wardrobe before you know it. And the BEST rewards? When people notice and compliment you that youve lost weight!! For me? Thats a plus and it makes me feel good!!

I lost 15 lbs from switching to Diet soda (you just have to look at the sodas as a whole different soda, not a version of the soda you liked. I like Diet Dr. Pepper but it doesn't taste like Dr. Pepper, and Diet Mtn Dew doesn't taste like Mtn Dew).
I also lost 25lbs from not eating for 5 days straight, and then only eating less than 2000 calories after that, and almost no fat.
I work at starbucks, so i just stopped drinking any of the drinks except tea/coffee, and never eat the pastries.
