Default Win 2k or XP home?

Ok, I already asked Bandit this, but what would be a better choice for me? I generally use the computer for forums, mail, surfing, car vids, etc. AIM and P2P. It has a AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1GB ram, and 2 160GB HDD'*. He told me 2k on which I agree. What about you guys?

From what I've heard, unless you actually have multiple users, XP Home sucks. If you don't do any major gaming, I also would recommend 2K. If you have access to XP Pro, that'* what I run, and have had no problems with it what-so-ever...

If you can get your hands on it, go for XP Professional. I'm in agreement....XP Home is aweful. It'* nothing more than 98 on steroids.

Agreed with everyone else. Get 2k, 2k Pro NT if you can. ME and XP Home suck. XP Pro is good.

if hes just going to use it for P2P and internet.. 2Kpro is mutch better. no BS, no extra crap to deal with, just an os that works...

XP pro just seem that no matter what you do to it i just doesn't run fast... there is always something to slow it down.

but now with me getting into linux and likeing it... i ould just say use SUSE10.1 or something

Linux is still not ready for the casual user. Stick with something that you know like 2k pro, XP Pro is ok, but any home edition really sucks (ME, 2k, XP). If your really interested in Linux try dual booting your system and try it. Also I suggest purchasing a copy from Amazon.com (about $50) to get the extra addon'* and the installation support.

I use Ubuntu and Kubuntu which are really nice if you can get one of them installed. Except if you have an ATI card, it might be a little harder to get it working.

You could also play around with Windows Vista Beta.

I'd also go with 2K if you just have XP Home.
