I *used* to take my vehicles to Valvoline Instant Oil Change.
I found out the hard way they weren't doing the lube portion of the job.

well, i admit, i dont always grease fittings, or check differentials , but if somebody wants an air filter replaced, and i pull out a reusible, i put it in the new filter box, with the text <your old filter is non-disposable>. same if it is new <this filter is still good>. if they dont tell me to change it, i dont

The only time my car see'* a mechanic is once a year when for state inspection or if I have tires put on.

I'd NEVER go to a jiffy lube, heard too many bad stories. My step father went there twice and the tried to pull a fast one. I don't remember the whole story, but it was pretty stupid.

i guess i'm one of the few ethical techs left in the world, my work may not be the fastest but i do it right, hell one time i forgot to put windsheild washer fluid in a car, i got the ladies numbers, called her up, said i could drive over to her (she'd already left) and put it in, she said not to worry about it, the point is i went out of my to fix a mistake, and this video isnt even the worst i've heard of, i've heard of places charging for an oil change and then not doing iti mean the oil change is the most vital maintenance and the main reason these people are coming to place, and it doesnt get done

I forgot to say my Dad went to Sears when he got his tires and front end alignment. He asked if he could watch them and they told him, "store policy, so no." So he said f-off and left.

as for being allowed to watch, i would imagien there would liability issues with letting people in the shop, but alot places have windows to view the shop, or leave the garage doors open while the work is done, etc

With the horror storys I've heard and seen! I have to open my own shop when I retire from the Navy in a few years.
Bob'* Basic'*! "I don't do it all, that inc screwing you eather"
Sistesr car, 3 cross threaded lugs, 1 broke off stud she didn't notice.
She needed a new tires. I got them from tirerack. She drove down from DC, I did it myself- in the do-it yourself auto hobby shop on base. We take the back right tire off, it'* HOT! Humm thats strange. The shoes are worn, get new ones. Go to put them on, They put the 2 back shoes on the right side 2 fronts on the left!
NOTHING in the vid is new to me about jip-u-lube. Hell @ least they remembered to put the drain plug in and OIL!
