I gotta cry foul here, a Z06 running a 8+ in the 1/8th? Clearly this was an operator, Not engine problem. Fiero'* 7.9 is pretty impressive, but the Z 'vette at 8.7???? BS They run in the high 5'* low 6'* with mods like the Fiero all day long without Gomer behind the wheel.

FYI, the F40 6 speed they bolted to that LS7 had cyro treated internals. It was no ordinary F40. They will bolt up to a 3800, but some fabrication is required. A Getrag 284 will also suffice and require less fabrication. One guy we have on the w-body and clubgp boards pulled 580fwhp on a Getrag 284, and it finally failed on him. However, it wasn't the internals that failed; he cracked the case. The only disadvantage to the 284 is its damn near impossible to find a rebuild kit for them, and the clutches are 2x more expensive than for the 282, which also handles the L67 perfectly well and is more common.

Here is everything you need Dan. Even a paddle shift kit for the 4T65e.
Stealth, you can get a turn key */C Fiero there too.
Somewhere on the page there is an LS4 shoved in a GP GTP

Well if a crash were to happen with either of those cars, i'd put money that the $70k driver could walk away before the $3k could, not a single airbad unless otherwise installed and the only metal stopping fromfront end is the frame seeing as the engineis in the mid. I've seen people in fiero wrecks before and it never ends up well.
