Default Why I do my own work...

After my tune up of the SLE after I bought it which included Oil change, fuel filter, thermostat, spark plugs, air filter, UIM and LIM gasket, valve cover gaskets, I figured I should have the coolant flushed since there was a lot of crap in there. I waited a few weeks and finally Monday afternoon decided to take it into Jiffy lube since I didn't know the dealership did coolant flushes the way I wanted it done.

Long story short, they called me and said my coolant was leaking so they refused to do service. Funny thing is, it was full and fine when I took it in with clear dex in the res. When I pulled up, there was green coolant all over the engine bay and under the car, and the res was empty and the rad a good amount drained.

The manager said he was there the whole time and pulled the car in, noticed it was leaking then pulled it right back out and no one did anything. Guess I'm supposed to believe I sprung a magic green leak and my car somehow drained itself of coolant in 30 seconds then fixed itself.

I showed the manager the facts and gave him every opportunity to tell the truth, he just kept lieing to my face. I'm beyond upset. It was -6 out and they just said "Well, your car was leaking so we refuse to work on it, good luck" and left me with an undrivable car. Wouldn't even let me pull it in the shop, made me stand outside to look at it and fill it back up.

I suspect they blew a hose off or a hose started leaking from too much pressure, thought they cracked the radiator, so they pulled it around and claimed not to have touched it.

Oh yea, then I took it to the local dealership, they let me pull it in the quick lube, took a look at it from the pit, pressure washed it off for me, and sent me on my way without charging me a dime. That'* where I'll be headed this weekend to get the flush done right.

I never let anyone work on my car if I'm not standing there. In this case you should have pulled out the camera and started taking pictures. Then explain to them it'* for your lawyer and he will be contacting them. Then ask if he has anything further to add, and start writing things down. You would be surprised how attitudes change.

X2 on that. People change real quick when they realize they can't take advantage of you anymore.

Go back with pictures of your car before it came in. tell the manager you took these shortly before you came in, and your on your way to see your lawyer to show him. have a note book and ask if he has anything further to add. Write down all that was said before, during, and after. You could even record the conversation, just make sure he knows your doing it. Even video, that'* better. If he calls your bluff, no loss for you. But even if he does, you will rattle his cage.

I've got pictures of the green puddle under the car, the coolant all over the engine bay, and there is the fact that the car is not leaking at all now, just like it wasn't before. Nothing dripped where I parked it, nothing in my driveway.

The car seems fine, so I guess I got lucky. I don't know what I would go after them for other than making a mess of everything and lieing.

You'd be surprised what you could sue people for. You did indeed get lucky. Some people don't get that lucky.

I took my 99 Alero into a Quick Change place for a oil change, then they asked if i wanted my air filter replaced because it looked dirty. I said sure. Then i was on my way.

I week or so later my car started acting up.. So i popped the hood and started checking stuff, opened my air box and wouldnt u know it!! No air filter, my car had sucked a bunch of stuff up inside it and eventually the car was junk!
