Ethenol Danger
watch for ethenol geting on your paint, its like brake fluid x2 or 3 or 10, it would really **** one off, i go to a cruise-in every Friday night at a MacDonalds around here, and last friday two classics got screwed....
one was a chevy nova, '70 something i belive, this thing is clean, they guy has had it for sale for a few weeks but has only shown up for just a few nights, but he was telling us his story, he had just spilled a little on the side of the car, and he wiped it off...next morning he happend to eb around on that side of the car and the clearcoat had bubbled up, he said he sanded that down and was gona put come clear back on it but later on the paint had bubbled up cuz the ethenol had gone all the way through....he sanded it down more, but now he needs to take it down to the metal and repaint it....
after he is done another guy who comes just about every week with a 49 Chevy pickup, pulled in and he looked at us all and he said, you wont belive this.....we all said what?, and hes like go look at my gas cap...we got around to it and man, it seriously looked like a deflated balloon under the paint on the side of the truck....and man was he bumbed out, maybe i'll get a picture next weekend but man....just makes me watch out for stuff like that more.....

Odd... The gas pump didn't shut off once (with 10% ethanol) and spilled gas all over. No appearent effects on the paint. It may have something to do with old paint or primer or something.

It might not be ethanol that eats paint. It would have to be a laqueur thinner of sorts.
I have had experiences with only particular types of fuel causing this problem. Both times were in California 15 years ago. None of the fuel I get locally has any effect on paint.

And cars that old definitely won't be using any higher than the 10% mix they sell here. You can alledgedly go up to 50% on any vehicle, but noone sells it that way yet.
