Default So, I got hit by a car..(long)

Yesterday, I was riding my bike near the phila art museum. My friend dave was trying to show me this new spot. Well we had to cross kelly drive. At this point there was a ton of speeding traffic and I didn't see how we could make it in one shot. So, I looked and there was a middle section where I thought no cars would go. I had enough time to make it to the middle and maybe across as the cars in the furthest lane were pretty far down. Anyways, I rode out to the middle and rode up the middle so I could take my time to get to the other side, look down and theres yellow solid lines on the left and a single white solid on the right...it'* a turning lane.. a few seconds later I heard my friends scream and a honda crv barely screaches behind me, and nails my back wheel. At that point the guy was probably doing 35 or so because he was slowing down a half a second before he hit me. Well, it knocked my bike up and upside down into the air at least 7 feet. And It knocked me about 4 feet into the air.
My mind took a snapshot of that. Everything just stopped for a second. My bike in the air in front of me, me still in the air, and a car heading the opposite direction.
An on comming car hit my bike before it had a chance to hit the ground. This knocked the bike back up into the air and over my head putting it between me and the stopped crv. I had my hand up to catch it so it wouldn't land on me but it missed..
The only thing that happened to me was my seat banging the back of my knee and falling on my hip and elbo. Somehow I was not hurt..
I made it over to the other side and the driver of the crv came over too. He had this look on his face like I was going to sue the crap out of him. He was much more shook than I was. Hes said how sorry he was and he was shakeing his head. He asked if I was ok and I said I was but just give me 5 mins. or so so the adrenaline stops pumping.
I gave it some time and realized that I actually was ok. This guy was super worried so I told him not to worry and that I wasn't going to sue him or anything. I know alot of people would see dollar signs and all but I'm not grimey like that. He was real relieved. He asked if my bike was ok and I couldn't believe it. It was fine. The handle bars were just off alignment with the forks but nothing was bent or broke.
I shook the guys hand and all he was saying how he would be more careful and I told him that I definitely would too.
My friend told him he better be careful driving right then since he seemed real shook and out of it.
He actually got a flat from hitting me. I asked him if he needed help to change the flat and he said his firend lived real close and could help him. I saw the bumper that hit my back wheel. It was dented pretty far in. I told the guy I was real sorry about his bumper and he said to really not worry about it.
I'm still in awe about how everything happened the way it did. It'* pretty unbelieveable.
I'm so thankful I'm alive right now.
My firend dave kept asking me if I was actually ok and I kept saying I was almost not beleveing myself after what had happened.
Just thought I would share with you guys.
Some side notes..
I was in that turning lane for a solid few seconds before I heard those tires screah and the bang of my rear wheel.
That car that hit my bike didn't stop.
I only have a swolen elbo and 2 bruises on my left side.
And I will never forget that snapshot that my mind took.

Thank God you didn't get injured seriously. I've had a few close calls before but never been hit (knocks on wood). Hope you heal up nice and fast.

Glad you're OK. I guess Friday was a bad day for pedestrians. A 14 year old boy ran in front of my daughter Friday & got nailed. She was in the 89 Bonneville going about 45 mph before hitting the brakes. It happened around 5pm on one of the busiest highways in WNY. Niagara Falls Boulevard, if any locals are reading. Several witnesses said it was entirely the kids fault so hopefully I don't get sued. The bumper on the 89 is fairly low so he must have been hit around the knees then flipped up into the windshield. The windshield looks like he almost went through it but the witnesses said he flew up into the air about 10 ft. The roof of the car is dented so I'm guessing that'* where he landed. He then rolled off in front of the car. We're meeting with the police in a couple hours & will see what they have to say. All we've heard so far is he has two broken legs & some facial injuries. One of the legs is so bad that there'* a 5% chance he'll lose it. Please say a pray for him.
