Default Where Were You On 9-11-2001?

I remember it like it was yesterday. At the time, I was a senior in High School. I was sitting in my architectural design class watching CNN (My teacher liked watching the stock market). All of a sudden, they switched to a live feed from NYC and said that an airplane had accidently crashed into the first tower. At this point, I figured that it was probably a prop plane or something small. But no, it was a Boeing 757. As they were trying to get an update, the second 757 crashed into the other tower. I will never forget the sounds that were on the live camera just before the second plane came into view; It was like a chorus of a million people saying "Oh My God, There'* Another Plane." I was so shocked, and NO BODY else in school except for the people that were in the classroom knew that this terrible act of terror had happened.

That'* what I remember before everyone in school started freaking out...

It was my day off work, and I was flipping channels. Came across CNN and saw Tower 1 on fire, didn't know the cause at the time but that didn't take long. Watched the rest unfold as it happened.

Anyone see the 9/11 Commission Report special on The History Channel in the last few days? It was a pretty good portrayal of everything that was disclosed in the reports, much more factual and less accusatory than the live coverage of the actual hearings a few months ago.

I was in bed, remember it was 6:00AM my time, PDad was up getting ready for work when he came rushing into the bedroom and woke me up....He watched the second plane hit the building, then I went to have a shower and the first tower fell and again he came rushing in, I jumped out and we watched the second tower fall together. We were in such shock, we didn't know what to say. I had to take the kids to school and a friend reminded me that I had said something a few days before it happened.....I knew something was going to happen, but I didn't know what. One thing that caught my attention was that here in Houston we have a high population of East Indian families and normally they were involved with our converstations, not that day, they kept to themselves, until I brought them into the conversation. I learned later that some of the mothers were ashamed, and they thought that we would blame them for what happened, which was totally not true.

I still remember it crystal clear...I was sitting in my Functions, Stats and Trig class, eleventh grade year. Some seniors who were just arriving after a first hour free period came in an told us we had to turn on the TV. As soon as we did, we all watched the second plane hit the second tower on live TV. Most of us were shocked, I remember this one girl saying that it had to be a joke, the whole scene is still very surreal to me. We all watched as the first tower fell. By that time, the principal of the school building said that we had to turn off our TVs so that we could continue to focus on the school work we had. That was pretty much pointless, both the students and teachers couldn't just carry on. We caught bits and pieces of the story as some teachers did allow us a few minutes of TV time, but I caught up with the events in the car as we were driving home.

I was a Senior in highschool, and pulling in late, I heard the TV going in the library, so I walked in and no one cared I was late or didnt have a pass, but rather focused on the TV. And I saw the smoke covering up the towers.

I was a Junior in HS, going in to my Drama class. I was a few minutes early. The teacher turned the TV on to the news, and we watched everything unfold.

I was at work. 9/11 is my co workers birthday so we were celebrating. We aren't allowed to listen to any type of radio or anything and one of our insured'* came in and told us about what had happened. We went to CNN.com and we turned a radio on and listened the rest of the day. We cried.

Was in the office, doing some area calculations for ironically the new Terminal building at Pearson Airport, we originally heard on the CNN website, then all the radios turned on. Everyone in the office was sending instant messages to each other about what was going on..

At work on that day. The store manager'* wife called him to say that an airplane had crashed into the WTC. As he was on the phone, his wife was was giving some details when the second plane hit.

My wife'* employer also has an office in Long Island. All employees of both offices were sent home to be with loved ones. I asked her to bring in a TV from home so we could keep up with new info at the store. Amazingly, there no complaints, even from upper management, for watching TV for an entire week.

All of us were shocked and horified.

Flight 93 (the one that went down in Somerset, Pa) flew within three miles of my town. It crashed 15 minutes later.
