Default When I was a kid.......

Hey, not trying to bash the color of anyones car AS MINE IS BROWN! ugh lol, anyway, When I was a kid I was always told not to buy a green car(sorry willwren and all you'* your cars are sicked out), why you ask? well appearntly the green cars were made on Friday, something about green was easier to paint(I know some paints are easier than others) and that the employees would rush on Friday to get out therefore not building a up to quality car....no one take offence just what my parents always said (and seeing on my dad has cars and trucks and sleds and bikes and trailers and you name it lol) he knows what hes doing that for sure....just thought some people might think its cool...some might not...lol,anybody ever heard this before? thanks. everyone have a nice day

Metallics are difficult to paint, and it doesn't matter, since the cars aren't painted by hand. They're painted by robots.

He may have dated himself if "When he was young" they painted cars by hand.

....that would make him almost as old as me.

Probably not robots in 93, but the parts passed through a spray booth. No human intervention was likely even in 93.

The robots save paint and time.

Monday or Friday cars, while still a standing joke, are highly unlikely to be reality these days. Due to automation, its probably impossible to determine how much of your car was made on a monday or friday. And since most auto plants run round the clock rotating shifts, a workers Wed morning might be thier "friday" or "monday"

However its still interesting to joke about it. As for automation taking away jobs, getting upset about it isnt going to change it. People get equally mad about offshore outsourcing. Both are, and have been for some time, the new reality. Might as well spend the energy it takes to get mad about to learn how to adapt in the new "global" economy. Sad but true

Robots only take away those redundant repetitive job actions.....the kind that cause repetitive Strain injuries. They also keep people from exposure to cancer causing carcinogens from the paint fumes.

People need to do the jobs that require human brains......like fixing the robots when they break.

i agree painting cars with robots is good, they probably do a better job than any human, lol(espically one thats been paintin for a while and has lost some brain cells :P ). I guess they are the way of the future, but it'* still not good seeing people lose jobs over robots in certain ares of the field (let the robots do the paint work). My dad and i had built a trailer out a old f-150 , we chopped the frame and angled frame rails in and put a hitch on, put the f-150 box back on, towed it to my uncles and we were mixin about 6 diffrent kinds of car paint...well i had to hold the paint filter, next thing i know my uncle is like 'you high yet? haha' while i was stumblin away from it.......darn guys make me do the dirty work
