Just out of curiousity.. I will be re purchasing my stereo equipment over time again.. and I know I'm going with 2 12".. I'm thinking of ported design.. louder bass ( kinda like dance clubs ) but not as accurate and low as sealed enclosure.. unless you have enough power to drive the sealed system

I am running 2 12" RF Punch in a standard bow. I ported it with two holes (roughly 3" each) to help get the lows out. My system is fairly "patched" together with whatever I could afford at the time with a wiring job to make an installer krindge! I have seen installs in the bonnevilles where they had costom made boxes to fit on either side of the rear seat door in the trunk. I think that setup looks the best and will probably perform better than an off the shelf box. What I have noticed in mine is that to get really good sound in the cab you really need to push the subs toget through the back seat. All the padding and bracing there really dampens what sound can get thru.

I was running 2 15'* in a sealed enclosure, and definetly had enough punch and enough low end bass, then again I used to go to competition with it too. Currently I run one 15 in a sealed encosure and most people don't beleive the sound that comes out of there. It'* acurate, low, and LOUD!!!. But it'* an Orion NT2 DVC sub that'* getting powered by an Orion HCCA 250. I've got it running in 2ohms mono. I've had this amp running at 1ohm mono ( so .5ohms) for a while during competition, but it gets hard on the amp. I've even blown the 40amp fuses that I have installed just before the amp. Talk about a moving experience ( loud bass just before the fuse blows) hehe.
I used to run with ported enclosures but all you can hear is the air moving through the port and gets to be very anoying. Plus at competition, when we would do SPL tests after competition people would stick the mic in the port, christ I could blow on the mic and get the same SPL. So that'* why with at sealed enclosure, it shows more what you really have cause it takes more to get results.

I'd rather save for a CAI or an Exhaust. Stock sound for me until performance mods are complete.

SSEI95.. dumb question.. did you have the center trunk door ( behind the center back seat console ) opened ?? Wouldn't that affectively in a way port the trunk ( since the trunk itself is also an enclosure ) and give you higher DB ???

I do that too...love to crank my tunes. The only reason I haven't changed out my speakers yet is that they sound really good for factory. Kinda strange, really.

Yup, I do leave it open (except when parking in a shift neighborhood, like by willwren ) but if I were to open the trunk a few inches the sound just poors out the back. You can actuall notice quite a diference then. That'* why I ported them. They just seemed to like the air flow. I'm not expecting too much out of them considering the subs were buy one get one free and the box was discounted a bit. And the amps, nothin really speacial, just a cheapo amp that does the job.

As long as it works.. why not... we all have to start somewhere....
By the way.. weren't you the ones that mentioned that you'd like to have your ride go down the road like the pic on your sig?? fog lights on.. market lights.. no headlights.... because if you did.. it can be done.. I have it.
