Default What I've been up to ( 56K warning )

Well, for all of those who have been wondering why I haven't been on much lately, besides Peyton, here is the other reason....

We decided to do some remodeling of part of our house and make it feel more like "our" home

Here are some pics of the process and what we started and ended with.

ENJOY!!!!!

Well, here is what we started with three weeks ago ( we did ALL of this ourselves, while I am also working 40 - 56 hours per week on midnights )
roomrennovation001.jpg

NASTY carpet.... it looked like a sandbox under the carpet pad when we ripped it up!!!!
roomrennovation003.jpg

AHHHH, the teardown

Old, crappy 5/16 inch drywall ALL removed down to bare studs

This corner was sectioned off with a small wall that had a fireplace behind it. this is how the whole project got started. We decided to rip out the fireplace and install a wood stove for heat and not spend soooo much damn money on propane
We ripped out the wall and fireplace, then I built up a small platform for the woodstove.

New 5/8 inch drywall, paint, and lights. Stephanie stayed up ALL night and painted the room when I was at work. She was still painting when I got home at 7:30 AM.

Tile is almost done on the platform for the woodstove

Which brings us to today....

Just finished the flooring today around noon

We still have trim to do around all the windows and doors, install new bedroom and bathroom doors also trim around the floor.

We think it looks soooooo nice and are amazed with the results. What do you think????

That'* a HUGE difference from the last time I saw your house. Geez....

Great job, you guys! How you did that with a newborn to care for is beyond me.

Looks great, Ryan.
Way to tackle it yourselves! We wish we could have been more "hands on" with our renos, but with the kids, it is pretty tough.
Today at least I installed a new light in our bathroom by myself!

Good job!

Thanks for the comments, we really did bust our buts to get this to where it is now. We have about 20 people comming out for Christmas day, so it has to be all done by then. I have been working about 16 - 18 hours a day for the past two weeks between this project and work. It sucks, but the results are VERY worth it

Can't wait to do the rest of the house :P
