IMO, an exposed air filter INSIDE the engine bay counter effects the CAI theory. Your better off using the stock intake ductwork. Best way is via the fender well.

Had a busy weekend. Fuel sender was going out on the truck, looked like it had started separating from the pump housing and the fingers were all bent and wore out. Ordered a replacement from RockAuto after watching all of the AC Delco advertising about why their pumps are better, and the AC Delco pump I got had all of the bad features they said they didn't use...?? Ended up going to Autozone to get an Airtex and sending the Delco back.
Apparently this isn't the first fuel pump rodeo for this truck, someone already crimped in the new style harness. New pump also came with a new harness so I cut the old out and soldered in the new.
A couple weeks ago I noticed the Bonneville was seeping orange and green, and it hadn't even been started in over a month! New aluminum elbows went in, that solves the orange problem. Then I decided to redo the intercooler plumbing for the third time.
Also ended up replacing the side reinforcements on the bumper. This bumper I got from a JY to replace the one that got destroyed. My car is rust free, but apparently the donor car wasn't so lucky. Wasn't sure the old ones were going to last much longer...
Hanging up the shirt for the weekend.

You are aware that Airtex pumps have a higher failure rate than the Delco'* right?

you sent the second best back to get the worst chinese crap you could buy? delphi ones have all the fixes for gm'* design errors and they put quality parts in it. the delphi senders have different design so when it wears out it cant come away from the contacts on the mount

The Airtex is what was already in it, and the pump didn't fail which is the important part, just the sender. I should have taken a picture of it, the fingers looks worn and one of them looked like it was bent backwards. I'll agree that the sender might not be of as high of quality, but I have faith in the pump.
The "AC Delco" I got had the old style harness and all the features they said they didn't use for longevity purposes, so I sent that thing back because who knows how long its been sitting around.
On any note, lifetime warranty so even if the pumps do fail more often, it appears the senders wear out first so I'll just make sure to warranty it if the sender acts up again = P

you are getting to know me then
i know there are some sickos who do like the smell of gas but not me, this last time my monte fuel lines went it was getting gas all over the garage and my shop clothes ended up soaked in it and so between the first time i fixed it and the second time i couldnt smell anything but gas and couldnt figure out if it was still leaking.
