Went to Discount Tire this morning to get some new tires put on. Yokohama YK580s. Not a bad piece of rubber so far.

those pipes look about an inch in diameter and the actual pinch weld based supports are only about 6 feet long. ive never, ever been in a shop that uses a lift with that thin of materials. i sure wouldnt trust it with my nearly 4,000lb 210" long car. but to each his own.

Well, it obviously held up just fine. I just wonder how they'd lift my truck seeing as I didn't see any big lifts in there.

Floor jacks???

Once a year my car goes into a shop(besides mine). Think I sit in the waiting room waiting for the inspection to be done? Noooo sireee! I will stand right behind my car watching every single move they make. Poor guys, get real nervous sometimes.

those lifts have rubber pads on them and the load out over a greater area i would think they would be better than the ones that lift the whole car by four little squares

im not knocking the padded lifts, im just concerned about how short they were on such a long car. id be afraid of the car being off balance and just tipping or the rockers caving in.

the midas i used to work at had a padded ten ton lift that had adjustable arms to go down the entire rockers. maybe im just paranoid because i lived in the north. i suppose in georgia you wouldnt have the rocker rust issue so much lol.

My hoist has four fold out arms and ive picked up anything from bubba to my suburban with it and never had anything fall or come close..Just when i hoist ans suv or truck above my head i put jack stands under it..But those are four little squares to the frame..As long as the vehicle is placed properly and not to heavy for the lift and saftey latches and jack stands=no problems lol

lol. i remember even back at midas i had to explain why people heard a big boom and their doors didnt open right anymore. i had to take so many pictures and talk to so many insurance companies. but then i was also at the downtown chicago midas where theres usually more salt than snow.
