Institutionalized
During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what
the criteria is that defines whether a patient should be institutionalized
or not.
"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub with water, then we
offer a teaspoon, a teacup, and a bucket to the patient and ask the
patient to empty the water out of the tub."
Okay, here'* your test:
1. Would you use the spoon?
2. Would you use the teacup?
3. Would you use the bucket?
"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would choose the
bucket since it is larger than the teacup or spoon."
(scroll down, please)
"No," answered the Director. "A normal person would pull out the
stopper."
So how did you do?

I offically over-think everything. I decided on the spoon because I assumed if you were using such means that the stopper was stuck closed, therefore the hope was that you could use the spoon to pry the stopper open. So what does that say about my mental health ?

I'm not so sure of pulling the stopper being the 'normal person'* answer' and here'* why. The director gave three possible ways to drain the tub. This means that if your thinking logic is following the possible solutions, you should pick one of those possibilities. If your thinking logic goes beyond what the possibilities were and you come up with your own idea for how to drain the tub, wouldn't that classify you as insane? thinking outside the norm, and given possible solutions?
