Weirdest Weather
Last weekend I drove to work in this really thick fog. It was so bad in some places that I couldn't see more than about a quarter mile. It was very different from the usual rain, sun, or snow I'm used to up here in NY. It got me thinking... what'* the weirdest weather you have ever driven in?
^^ Darn New York State... they give you a registration sticker to put in your window, and it doesn't even stick. They should have gotten it right by now.

I used to make a 100 mile journey from Dixon to Chicago every weekend, sometimes twice a weekend. Then the role reversed and now I'm making the 100 mile journey from Chicago to Dixon every weekend. I've driven in plenty of crazy weather. The winter weather is usually the worst, although fog can be just as bad.
I've driven in fog so bad I literally couldn't see the road more than 5 foot in front of my car, fog lights didn't help a bit. Spent that whole trip hoping and praying there was nothing in the road and no deer decided to wander out in front of me.
On another trip it was pouring down a snow/freezing rain mix. I had the defrost and heat on full the whole time, and windshield wipers full speed. By the time I got to Dixon my windshield had a circular hole with about a 1 foot diameter that was still closing in to look through and I had just lost sight of the road under a blanket of snow.

As for what'* the weirdest weather I've driven in, wow, where do I begin. Fog so thick I couldn't see the lines on the road, rain so hard the wipers couldn't remove the water fast enough, wind so strong I was pushed off the road, one time wind so strong I had to floor it in a van and I was still slowing down. Ice storms, snow storms, you name it. I drove a truck in a ice storm and had to pull over because the front end was getting so heavy driving was getting hard and the mirrors both had over 20 pounds of ice on the. This picture was from a slush storm. Had to leave the interstate because the car didn't feel right.

I drove threw a hail storm, the hail balls were the size of gold balls. and left bents every inch or my 1996 Lumina, my car looked like a golf ball by the time it was over.

A few summers ago, I was driving north through Trenton. One minute it was overcast, and then I saw a wall of water and lightning in front of me. Not much you can do but drive through it.

The weirdest weather I ever drove through was coming out of the Lehigh Valley Tunnel coming down into Allentown, PA. It was all but pitch dark in the middle of the day, raining so hard everyone had to pull over, and watch an incredible lightning spectacle that included ball lightning as the normal stuff crackled horizontally from mountain top to mountain top spiderwebbing down into the valleys. It illuminated some deep purple skies and looked so surreal.
This whole summer has been a strange one. Here in NE Pennsylvania it is either unseasonably cold or hot. We are alternately form freezing to baking. And way above average rainfall. Come on Al Gore, letz hear ya explain it.......... Oh. Ya. He hasn't said nary a word since they measured the snowfall in front of his house with his global warming book.
