Have you ever had a forum you were a part of get shut down?

I have been a member of an "automotive art" forum for almost two years now, i was there pretty much when the site first began. I saw it evolve from a poorly run site to a well oiled machine. But then a pesky thing called money got in the way and the site got shut down overnight.
Its like seeing a peice of yourself get shut down. :(

Well thats my random emotion for the day :P

Haha...I have a feeling you lurk a lot but don't post, but just had to post when you saw this. I hosted a site myself for a while, and I didn't have the ingenuity to keep it from burning through my bank account. Even when I hosted myself, the electric bill from the server was a pain.

It'* great when you have a user base that is willing to contribute, an ad system that helps but doesn't get in the way, and a owner that is willing to put in the time, effort, and even money to keep things working.

Didn't we have a similar issue here a while back??

I know one of my card-modelling forums had the same situation happen 2 or 3 months ago. The owner runs a few for-profit forums, though, so he moved "our" forum to that site. I guess I'm spoiled because of being here. Big picture ads on a forum suck!!

The next person that complains about the little google ads Teubok decided to use here gets a
