Those are extremely accurate headphones. Meaning they reproduce the sounds very well according to the original intent. The biggest issue is that the ONLY way to get good accuracy through the whole range (i.e. bass) is with a headphone amp. Any of those high end headphones are pretty weak on the low end without an amp because the MP3 players, computers, and any standard headphone-source dont have enough power to push the big tight drivers in them.
Get a headphone amp and it is like night and day. Bose makes drivers that overpower the bass so the consumer can hear it without needing an amp, but it isnt very accurate.
The biggest disadvantage? the amp will set you back another $100-200+. That is why those are considered 'audiophile grade' headphones... because you have to empty your pockets to get the orgasm in your ears.

30 years ago those headphones were state of the art and cost $200.
In todays dollars that would be about $800., but then a high end stereo cost $5000 back then and now you can buy a similar one for $1000.
