Win7 is the stability/speed of XP with the pretty of Vista.
I loved how XP performed, but had to go with Vista when I built my gaming rig to be able to use all my hardware. Now that Win7 cam out I'm back to stability/speed of my XP machine with the pretty of Vista that I liked too.
Oh, I also beta tested Win7 from the get-go so I know all of this from personal experience and not just some 3rd hand account that somebody told me about.

Its way to young, and not put through it'* paces with lots of other software yet for me to dump XP. It may be good. I'm just going to be happy with getting up to date hardware with XP loaded and see how 7 runs the track. I been with Bill since DOS, and just gun shy that they could possibly, actually, do something right the first time out.

Actually John with alot of new laptops like several ive seen they use vista driver software that isnt accepted by xp... for instance 2 of my friends brand new laptops came with vista and when they tried to "upgrade" it back to xp lol they lost wifi and sound... no available drivers and they wouldnt work in backwards compatability mode... 3 yrs later, still no drivers.... but Win 7 works like a champ for them... and for all 5 of my computer as well.... at least until my motherboard crashed on my gamer tower... but thats hardware issue the OS is still solid... but $$$ isnt worth the upgrade if you have xp solid and stable... i lost my harddrive and had to reinstall the os anyways so opted for the newer demo of win 7 ultimate... works til this next june... then i have to buy it or fall back to xp... slowly saving money
