confirmed 33 dead now, something like 2 dozen injured :(
During the The William Morva Incident earlier in the Fall I was on campus then for a tour, and the school had gone on lockdown and we were locked in a auditorium while the admissions lady was trying to focus on the tour. when we were done they let us out, Tech was still on lockdown and students were out 'n about almost like nothing was wrong.

You never used to hear about these kinds of things back when I was in school. Someone needs to do something about this so that these school shootings can be prevented!!
I know gun control is an issue, but why havent the schools put metal detectors at the doorway/* to prevent Tragedies like this??? Its really ashame that you cant even feel safe in a school!!
It'* mandatory to have Carbon Monoxide detectors in your home to prevent death, but not metal detectors at schools???

Because then you have to pay someone to man the metal detectors. Put money into that, and you gotta take it from something else.
I'm sure the money is there, too. But getting someone to give it up will be a fight....

Most of the time, you see the Principals and other school faculty outside of the schools making sure no fights break out and such, why not place one of them at the detectors? Also it is common practice to have one police officer at the school, so theres another person who could be put to work.
I know that the school'* budget always falls short, but if legislature can write the cost of a metal detector into the budget for each school, our schools will be much safer.
I just get upset because im sure that money that is being wastefully spent, can be used to cover costs like keeping our schools safer.
