Default I really didnt know it all in High School- plus gems i find

im reading through a lot of papers ive written in the past. most of them i wrote in high school. on top of my idiocy in writing papers on abortion and homosexuality, it seems i wrote a couple papers assaulting public education as failing in their primary objectives [to prepare students for life] and one gem of a paper attacking my teachers teaching strategies (man, the red ink on that one is ghastly).

backstory: im tutoring one of my coworkers in english, so im letting her take a couple of papers i wrote for reference on how to cite sources and so on. as such, im going through the papers ive written looking for good examples of citation. every paper ive written since 9th grade is kept for posterity and in case i want to re-write one for a college class. if i do re-write a paper, i dont have to go looking for a lot more research and in some cases, use the same outline.

good times.

EDIT: this made me laugh:
"Stretch Armstrong may not have been one of the Founding Fathers, but the Constitution has been no less flexible or durable because of that fact."

Another that surprised me:
My family is not an excuse - it is a warning. It'* a warning about what can happen if i lose my focus.
Even though I wish my father had been there to help me through the tough times, I'm not angry with him for not being there. I'm not angry with him for throwing me against a wall. I'm not angry with him for threatening to kill my mom and my family. I'm not angry with my brother for having me steal for him, and I'm most certainly am not angry with God for putting me through this. I'm succeeding where no one else in my family has - and I'm doing it without help; without my father. But perhaps more important than all of this, I realise that the life you grew up in can have very little impact on the life you have when you grow up. Anyone who claims that the events that led to their downfall were beyond their control are sorely mistaken as to their own shortcomings - simply compare me with my brother. We both had the power, but he didn't use it.

Ah yes...we were all much smarter in high school, or at least we thought so at the time.

Full of righteous indignation and idealism.....

...the days of always knowing we were right.

But wait! Some never get over that feeling, do they?
