I have Verizon. I was on my parents' plan in college. Graduated, got married, wanted off my parents' plan to share a plan with my wife. Went in, asked to change. They said, ok, lets get verbal permission over the phone from one of your parents. Neither was answering their phone, so they said my parents could call in later to confirm, and it would be done. They called in later and were told that they needed to fill out some paperwork Verizon would send them. Okay..... three weeks later, papers arrive, get signed, I take them in. Verizon says, "Oh these papers would have to be sent to corporate, it'll take a few weeks for it all to process." So I tore them up. Brought my parents and my wife in at the same time upon advice that they would need to sign some stuff instore to get it done. I picked out a new phone, since mine was FIVE YEARS OLD!!!!
Ends up, all my parents needed to do was sign the bill (which was nothing after instant rebates and my debit card). If I would have got a new phone later, they would have had no point in being there!!!!
You just gotta find the one person in the store that knows what the heck they are doing and they will do it.
