Well lets see, since several people have asked...

Way back when I was just outta college, I had a great job, a tonne of cash, and since I was a huge airplane nut, and the Stealth fighter was just starting to get some major press, when I found out that a brand new 1994 Dodge Stealth TT was available, in black, as a left over at the Dodge dealership not far from Taunton, MA, I figured I would pick one up.

I had about 10k in cash at the time, so was very willing to put down a large chunk of change. Just being outta college and having no dress code at the office, I walked into Silver City Dodge, wearing a pair of ripped jeans (hey it was 1994), a Ride the Lightning T-shirt, a pair of combat boots and the keys to my 1990 Chevy Cavalier.

Of course this was a bad idea because the salesman at the time treated me like ****. He wouldn't let me sit in the car, open the hood, or do all those fun things you usually do when buying a new car. I took his **** for another minute, just waiting for a couple of insults, at which time I asked for the Manager. The sales guy more or less scoffed at me, but got his boss anyways. I know they more than likely had a nice conversation that I wasn't serious etc. So when the manager walked up to me, I reached into my pocket, took out the wad of cash from way too many summers workign shitty jobs, the small assasinations I did while in school (um, well never mind those ) etc. etc... I made damn sure the sales person saw this and said to the manager, here is 10k in cash and the keys to my car, I want that Stealth. Needless to say 20 minutes later I was driving out in my new toy (little did I realize the battery was nearly dead and two tires had dry rot from sitting in the same place in the dealership for almost 14 months)...

Fast forward to 11 months later.

I think I'm in love. You know you feel real good with this person, you don't thin you want anyone else. So you talk a little bit on how she would feel about getting married without giving everything away... she responds positively, so you go and drop nearly $2000 on an engagement ring. I give her the ring and all is cool. She is still in college so typically I let her drive the car to school so long as she drops me off at work and picks me up. Another month or so goes by and we start trying to pin down a wedding date. Things are good, but I notice that I don't have as much spare cash as I usually have. Nothing major, maybe $150 or so a week less than usual. I don't worry much about it as I had a habit of hording cash for rainy days and figured I hid it someplace. Fast forward a few months later, I get a new job more focused on teh computer industry (making a little less money, but this was really a job I wanted), but it takes a bit more time to get to this office, so I have to typically drop the finance off at school. She really does not like this idea as she doesn't really like the fact that she doesn't have access to a car of her own...

So a few weeks later I'm sitting at the office. It'* late and no fiance. Call the car'* phone (these were the days that the big bag phones were all the common folk could afford), no answer, call her apartment, no answer, call her friend'* apartment, no answer. I get a little worried, thinking she was in a car accident or something, so I call the local police, and then the hospital. No accidents reported so far. I wait a few more hours, and then start the long walk home. Get home around mid-night.

No fiance. No car.

I figure possibly a late night with some friends or what not. Go to bed.

Wake up next morning, no fiance, no car.

Now I'm getting a little more than worried about her. So I call her mom.

"Oh she is driving to Florida with Bill" she says.
"This IS Bill" I say.
"Oh, thats not good" she says.

I go to her place. It'* EMPTY. and I mean EMPTY. Cleared out. GONE.

Go to her friend who lived next door.

"She moved yesterday, why aren't you with her?" she says.
"I was at work and knew nothing about any move" I say.
"She was planning this for about 4 months she says"
"Oh ****" I say.

Thats when I get this comment from her friend...
"Since Danielle isn't here, can you sell me some coke?"

I was astounded. I didn't know what to say. I manage to stammer out
"What are you talking about?"

She replies:
"Oh I always buy some coke from Danielle, and I know she gets the good stuff from you"

Now mind you even to this day, I've NEVER done drugs, nor have I even been drunk (I'll have a beer or a cider every now and again, but never more than one).

It'* only then do I realize this chick has been playing me for months, and not only that, she is a druggie.

After realizing all of this, I remember, OH ****, she has my car!

I call the Police. They take my information... I call my insurance company.

I wait.

I wait some more.

Three months pass. I'm still fighting with the insurance company because she was my fiance and she had a set of keys to the car. The company I was working for, goes out of business. I'm broke, paying for a car I don't have...

Then on a Friday night, I get a call from the the cops. "We found parts of your car. Some in Flordia, some in Noth Carolina, it looks like it was parted out for money. The Florida State Police recovered your car phone in a drug bust."

Needless to say, I never got the car back. Or the ring.

Danielle? Didn't get arrested, but was still wanted on drug charges by both Florida and South Carolina.

Me? Lost the car. Fought with insurance. They paid me what the car was worth, I still hadda pay the outstanding balance on the car.

All I have left now is the key from the Stealth.
Cliffs:
1.) Guy gets out of college with LOTS of money
2.) Goes to dealer raggedy looking, with 10k in his pocket. (WANTING the TT Stealth)
3.) Gets the run around by the salesman, get the MGR to do it very quickly with cash + trade in.
4.) Finds girl, they go well.
5.) About $150 less a week spending money
6.) Gets $2000 engagement ring
7.) Girl is on her way to Florida, is a coke dealer, with his car.
