Kyle'* Official Annoying Aurora Fanboy Post
Okay guys, I'd like some feedback. I'm sure Jim W will have plenty to say :P
I just might be able to get an Aurora.
I've heard some horror stories about reliability on them, though. BIG TIME horror stories. The one I'm looking at (Don't have alot of details yet) belongs to some old family friends, an old couple. My dad'* old employers, to be exact. They always liked me, too Anyway, it'* red, and I'm told it has over 100k on it. That'* all i know until I can get in contact with them. Oh yeah, and they're selling it for $3000, I'm told. They don't have it in the papers or anything yet, though, which is a good thing
So, how should I proceed? What should I look for? I'm going to get it checked by my mechanic, just in case there're problems they aren't aware of that need addressing. Anything specific I should look for? Anything else? Opinions/observations/anything? Thanks again for all the help you guys have given Now, gimme more! lol...

I think it'* a 96 or later. The one who told me about it thought it was a 98, but I think he'* mistaken. Probably a 96-97.

Good!
The 95 had a flurry of problems, new engine, brand new car, bound to have mechanical issues. That aside, from my experience, I had to change my radiator, and I have rebuilt (piece by piece) my braking system. One day I had the main brake line fail and I lost most of the pressure in my braking system...not fun.
But I guess that can happen to any car.
Things to look for
Body damage - expensive body panels to replace
Oil leaks - make sure the gaskets are good
Electronics - the car is an electronic wonderworld, check everything from heated seats, to sunroof and everything in between
Now the good stuff
Autobahn, V-rated tires, high geared 4T80E tranny and no governor, premium stock audio system, 250 HP/260 TQ. DOHC aluminum engine, eletronic leveling, ABS/TC, kick *** Driver info centre, better seats, heated seats...it goes on and on
To boot, its one of the most unique looking cars on the road.
Red is a great colour too

Hmmm, some of those chronic problems sound very expensive. I've been wondering, though, about if it'* the right car for me, though. If something breaks, will I be able to fix it? Hmmm, I guess the next thing to do is go look at it, right? Anyways, thanks a bunch, Jim, I appreciate it

Like any car, things break, the Aurora can get a bad rap by second hand owners simply due to the previous owners. Heres my theory. Old fella/lady buys expensive Aurora, loaded, drives it, doesnt care about cleaning, or serious maintenance, easily makes the payments and at the end of the lease trades it in.
Its chronic behaviour around here anyway. But, its nothing you cant fix, I had to repair a few things, but, meh, its a car, it breaks. Dont let that scare you.
If you get the car, I suggest a factory service manual, its 2 volumes, one is totally electrics
Mine is labelled at a 96, but it was built in November 96 with some 97 engine parts. so its a 96.5
