OK, it is very late and I am just getting in from the bar. As some may know I came down to Toronto to look at a 90 SSE to replace my white 90 SSE. Thankfully JimW (and Angela) was kind enough to pick myself and Renee up at the hotel and bring me to see the car. Seen the car, it is in great shape. He drove us back to the hotel and it was only 10am. More on the car in another post.

We got a ride down to Toronto with her parents since they were were coming down to the http://www.springfishingshow.ca/ . The drive was 2 hours longer than expect due to weather. It was at a point that we had to stop in the middle of the Hwy since we could not even see the hood of the can.


So 10am, we grab a cab from the hotel and see the show. We were lucky enough to meet a few of the TV personalities and get a few autographs. Did a bit of shopping and caught a few seminars on fishing. We left there at 5 pm.

Call Jim W to meet up for super. On the way down we meet one of the TV personalities in the Elevator. He invites us to join him after super at a bar next door upstairs ( invite and business only). We get back to the hotel after super and wanted to go over but were not sure about it. Get out of the elevator going to our room and who comes out of a room about 3-4 away from us but the same TV personality and his partner. The partner invites us to go over for a few drinks not knowing that the first guy already invited us.


Now I don't know if any of these names are known in the US or even in the other Canadian provinces but here goes.

The first and second invite came from
Ron James ( 1st invite) and his partner
Leo Stakos( 2nd invite)

We also met a few others but those are the ones that took the time to come over and chat with us. A few of them asked us how we got in, but as soon as we said that Ron James and Lee Stakos invited us they were cool. These guys were great to talk to. Most of them had a few to drink and that Dave Mercer * a crazy man, it was great. We also took Renee'* dad with us and e had a blast talking to people he has seen on TV for year, but finally got to meet them. PLUS we got to spend time with them away from the show were they get mobbed by people asking questions.

Renee was the one asking questions during the day at the show and made an impression on them. I heard tonight that Shawn Richards mentioned it to the people he worked with a few times about some people from Sudbury that drove up last night in a storm and took 6 hours just to meet them. Well once we went to look at the car, then yeah we went to meet them. but NEVER did we ever imagine that we would be hanging out at the bar with them after-wards.


I know this is a long post, but I just had to share my great weekend. After driving in that storm for 6 hours it as all worth the payoff today.

To be honest I had only heard on one of those names previous to today since I was not a big fisherman. But once I met these guy they are all completely awesome. I am surely going to keep in touch with them and if they make it up my way I might try and get to see them actually tape on of their shows.


One thing that I am a bit concerned with is the fact that Lee asked if we minded him knocking on our hotel door at 3am to have another beer. I hope he forgets about it and goes to his own room, lol. It is now almost 1:20 am and I am going to bed.

I got a call early this morning from a tired yet still excited Mike and Renee. Go figure those fishing guys love...yep..fishing and beer!

Yeah it was a great weekend. I may be up again next weekend to help a friend get a new jeep since his was total in that tanker vs jeep thread I posted little while back.

Did you see anything you liked at the show? I only pay 10% over cost where I work and 30% on all the other companies products.

I tried to talk to someone a few times but he was always busy so I said screw it.

I wanted to know what I needed or the size boat I had but got tired of waiting.
