At Burger King today I saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9L Limited in the parking lot (the ones with the mesh grill and hood scoops. It was in good shape, dirty, but in good shape. It got me thinking, just how rare are those trucks? That one this morning was the first one I've ever seen in person.

There'* a reason why people referred to them as 5.9 (Un)Limited'*. There were quite a few made... don't know the exact # but pretty much there were more 5.9 Limited'* made than Grand Cherokee Limiteds with the 5.2L.
I remember back in 2000 some Mopar magazine put a CSC on it and was running 0-60 in like 5 seconds flat. Just a CSC, tuned the PCM and injectors IIRC.
There real 5.9 Limited to go after was actually the Shelby Durango with the CSC.... those were cool and ahead of their time as far features.... overhead monitors, DVD players, heated rear seats IIRC, and a few other goodies.

ive been car shopping for the past hmm idk... was looking for a jeep suv or durango... i found one with the 5.9 for 3500$ but it had 200k on the speedo... way to many miles... but for one under 100K was about 10k and for one about 75k was about 12k the durango is selling for about the smae price for the same yrs... but most of the durango had the 5.2 or the 4.7 (i think) however i did come along a durango shelby with 50K on it for 15k was realy freaking sick... but i had to walk away from that one for the same reason why i sold my GTP.... INSURANCE!!!! so for now i picked up a 95 crown vic with 70k miled on it for 800$ cant beat that... i just needed something before raining season starts...
but back to topic... the 5.9 are out there... ive seen just as many 5.9 as i have 5.2..
and for the extra what 20 hp its not worth the negitive effect on the mpg.... 23 mpg outa the 5.2 vs 19 outa the 5.9 not that much but.... also the price diff between the 360 and the 318 is another reason...

Quite a few of those around here, seen a few for sale recently too
My '04 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 HO (265 HP and 330 PFT) can work those 5.9s (245 HP and 335 PFT)pretty well and she pulls 24 MPG highway with the cruise set a 80, not bad for a V8. Still, that being said, I'd like to jack up one of those 5.9s for wheeling in
