Traded in my laptop for a waterproof one.
Well not waterproof but water resistant. Bullet Resistant. This is the primary "sorta rugged" laptop that the military currently uses. It its good enough for Iraq, I'm sure it will work for me.
500 nit brightness screen, brighter than most desktop monitors. Both shown at maximum brightness in those pictures. It has led backlights too for night viewing.
Plus Dell had a 3 day promotion for $1500 off the normal price. Snagged it for ($699)
I thought it was a deal. It came with a 7200 RPM hdd, instead of solid state but thats ok. The rest of the laptop can sustain a 10 foot drop on concrete without damage.
The case is made of various metals, mostly magnesium alloy. It should be a good tuning laptop and most importantly it will work in direct sunlight. It is very heavy though, around 8 or 9 lbs. Most laptops are 4-5 or so these days. But come on the ability to spill beer all over the thing and have it keep working is a selling point. Sealed screen, sealed keyboard etc. Fingerprint security to log into windows is cool too.
Good way to spend the tax refund I guess.
