Default P0385 - crankshaft sensor code

Our familys Aurora has thrown code P0385 [Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor B Circuit]. From what I can read on http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...m-history.html The engine has defaulted to a timing mode based on the other crankshaft sensor (the 4.0L has 2 of them). Obviously we want to fix this as soon as possible, but money is tight and it may be a while before we have the cash (depending on how much it all costs). Would it be safe to drive the car in the mean time? Currently the car does run and drive normally.

Also, check out the 4th post down (long post) in this thread as well...
