Default Three inch hitch ball?

Was looking at this trailer on E-bay. Ad states it has a 3" ball. The largest ball I can find on Reese or etrailer is 2 5/16. Any thoughts on what is on this trailer?

3 inch balls are available Michael.
Gooseneck Hitch Ball - 3 inch 94008
Overall trailer looks not too bad, ya a few dents, sounds like brakes/ axle maintenance has been done etc...Would be nice to see it in person though..
Are you gong to use this as a car hauler? You could throw a bid on it and see if he takes it, lower than the $4500 he'* asking..

Art,

I threw an offer out there, he came back at $4k. He doesn't have interior pics, no real specs, is in Vermont and wants it gone in three days after sale. A high risk transaction and I will only bite if the price gets below I can't lose no matter what. Trailers seem to be a very shady purchase in general- if I had money I would just buy a Haulmark or Featherlite and call it a day.

The three inch ball is really a big concern. The trailer is not a gooseneck, why does it have a non standard setup? If it is heavy duty, that is good but what issues can result like ball mounts, etc.

No interior pics means bad things happened inside. Possible he hauled livestock with it. Which means, the inside floor is GONE.

Then again, that decal looks familiar. Yup, sure does... ACT - American Canadian Tour

So, no livestock, then consider the possibility that a racecar let loose inside during transport.

No VIN?

How nice of him to remove the spare tire carrier. I can see rust where it use to be.

I'd stay away from this one unless he shoots interior pics.

I got stomped out of this at $1200:

20ft Car Trailer | eBay

The sellers are not listing much in trailer ads. Hard to find the manufacturer, actual condition, type of axles, etc. Seems a new trailer is a much safer buy than a used- the price points that new is the way to go.

Then I suggest biting the bullet and opting for a brand new one with warranty. If you can, get a loan.

wouldnt buy that one, try like texas and OKC, bunch of builders there and they had them for dirt cheap. there were a few guys that drove campers back when we were in school in OKC. shipping or driving to az would be way cheaper too.

there is all kind of shady going on with that one, should have a 2 5/16ths ball if its 10k bumper pull from 2000.

I made an offer on this one (link below), offer was declined. Very hard to buy a used trailer, Mike is spot on, when it comes to trailers new is likely a better deal/ value than used.

that one is a ton nicer, especially the part that allows you get out of the car. and it says stored inside so the rubber and seals are going to be good. could probably buy a new one for that but its not going to be half as nice. depends what you want to do with it. if your going to use it a bunch that would be a good one, if you are going to use it a couple times and sell it might as well find a cheap used one, new will depreciate too much

always wanted to build one with air bags, the two biggest pains towing my firebird is getting out and loading. normally you have to compromise between low load height (with wheels in your way) or tall so you can get the door open. i went tall so i could get the door open and use it for my quads and stuff too. but loading sucks with a low car. airbags you could do both
